Tourism needs more money

TOURISM stakeholders are calling on Government to allocate more money to their sector and less to temporary employment social programmes, in order to generate long-term employment.

Speaking with Newsday on Monday on behalf of his members, President of the Trinidad Hotels Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA), Hassel Thom, said “tourism currently accounts for approximately 14.5 percent of the labour force, as compared to five percent in the energy sector.
